Madrid, March 24. Infarma Solidario has raised €25,260 for the Let Children Have Health Maternal and Child Clinic in Meki, Ethiopia, thanks to the proceeds from the show organized within the framework of Infarma Madrid 2022 and from the sponsors of the fifth edition of Infarma Solidario.
This center, managed by the Pablo Horstmann Foundation, has offered free medical assistance to the entire child population and women of the Ethiopian town since 2012, serving more than 15,600 children and 7,000 pregnant women a year. With the funds raised, the purchase of medicines, the salaries of two pharmacists and a store manager for a year, or the purchase of equipment that allows diagnosing complex pathologies will be financed.
Elena Mantilla, general director of Sanitary Inspection and Management, presented the check to Ana Sendagorta, president of the foundation, in a ceremony attended by Luis González, acting president of the COFM; Jordi Casas, president of the Barcelona COF; Manuel Martínez del Peral, acting first vice-president of the COFM and architect of Infarma Solidario, and Agustín Torres, director of Interalia, at the EDP Gran Vía theater, where the cast of the musical “Fama” performed an exclusive function for the sponsors, their guests and donors of Infarma Solidario.
For Luis González, this fifth edition has meant the consolidation of Infarma Solidario thanks to the efforts of the Madrid and Barcelona schools. Also to the good work of Manuel Martínez del Peral, whom he has personally thanked for his involvement in carrying out this project.
For his part, the acting vice president informed the public of the novelty incorporated in this edition, which establishes that the funds be invested directly in the project for the care of children and women who are the object of Infarma's solidarity. "It is one of our requirements and we scrupulously review all the projects so that there is no intermediary administration expense," Martínez del Peral qualifies.
For her part, Ana Sendagorta thanked the contribution, pointing out that with this check “you are going to help treat 16,900 patients, to whom we directly deliver the treatment, which costs one and a half euros a day, but we give it to them for free because they cannot afford it” . In this regard, we must remember the priorities of the Pablo Hosrtmann Foundation, which works jointly with the local authorities of Meki and has had another pediatric hospital in Lamu (Kenya) since 2008 to reduce the infant morbidity and mortality rate and cases of severe malnutrition .
