(Milan, 15 November 2024). The 30th edition of SIMEI, the world's leading international trade fair for the winemaking and bottling machinery sector organised by Unione Italiana Vini (that began on Tuesday at Fiera Milano Rho), closes today with 33,000 visitors. The figure, which shows +10% attendance on 2022, complements the “sold out” exhibitor space (578 companies), up 20% on the last edition.
For the General Secretary of the Unione italiana vini, Paolo Castelletti: "SIMEI is confirmed as the Innovation Exhibition, the meeting point between a highly specialised offer and demand, able to meet the needs and attract the interests of domestic and foreign buyers. We aim to offer an even more complete SIMEI in 2026 thanks to the partnership with Ipack Ima and their Bevertech brand and the strengthening of Distillo".
In addition to the award ceremonies for the "Lucio Mastroberardino Innovation Challenge", SIMEI 2024 hosted not only the third edition of Distillo, but also the first edition of the Beer Forum, the "general condition" of beer in Italy, Olio Officina’s Oil Bar and Enovitis Business, an "indoor" event dedicated to technologies for the cultivation of the vineyard.
On the occasion of its 30th edition, SIMEI also awarded the – equally historic – eight companies that have participated in the fair since the first edition, back in 1963: Cavagnino & Gatti spa, Dal Cin Gildo spa, Enoplastic (Crealis), Garbellotto spa, Gruppo Bertolaso spa, Maselli Misure spa, TMCI Padovan spa and Zambelli Enotech srl. Gai Macchine spa, instead, won the Prestige Award.
The event ended with the wine tasting session by the Master of Wine Andrea Lonardi for a selection of American and French buyers and journalists, who tasted eight iconic Italian wines. Overall, the incoming action with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) brought 350 foreign specialised operators from 32 countries to SIMEI.
