CMTS 2023: A Resounding Success, Unprecedented Achievements and a Visit from Prime Minister Trudeau
(TORONTO, November 17, 2023) ― The Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) 2023, the pinnacle of advanced manufacturing events, recently concluded at its new home, the Toronto Congress Centre. Produced by SME, the nonprofit dedicated to advancing new manufacturing technologies and fostering manufacturing talent in North America, CMTS once again stood as Canada's most extensive showcase of cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, state-of-the-art equipment, best practices, and invaluable industry connections ― truly Canada’s National Manufacturing Event.
With over 500 suppliers, original equipment manufacturers, more than 9,000 manufacturing professionals from across the nation and around the world, and an impressive 250,000+ square feet of manufacturing excellence, including a staggering 1 million pounds of live equipment, the event spanned four action-packed days.

CMTS 2023 featured over 200 cutting-edge new products, a testament to the industry's relentless spirit of innovation. Attendees had the opportunity to explore more than 50 education sessions, gaining invaluable insights into the latest trends and advancements shaping the future of manufacturing.
Prominent dignitaries, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Mayor Olivia Chow and Premier Doug Ford, graced CMTS 2023 with their presence. Prime Minister Trudeau even walked the show floor, highlighting the event's significance in advancing manufacturing in Canada.
According to Julie Pike, senior director of event strategy at SME, “Prime Minister Trudeau's visit to CMTS 2023 was a remarkable moment that underscored the event's critical role in Canada's manufacturing landscape. His presence not only highlighted the importance of advanced manufacturing but also served as a testament to the innovative spirit that drives our industry.”
Co-located with CMTS 2023, the APMA’s 71st Annual Conference, held on Sept. 26, proved to be an automotive and mobility extravaganza with over 400 attendees, speakers, sponsors, and industry leaders in attendance.
CMTS 2023, featuring machine tools, tooling, metalworking, and advanced manufacturing technology, provided a dynamic and interactive experience. A new addition this year was the innovative AI-powered SME Events+ app that expanded attendees' access and connected them with the thriving CMTS community.
Pike also added "With cutting-edge manufacturing equipment on display, live tech demonstrations and thought-provoking sessions, CMTS 2023 was a platform that challenged the status quo and looked to drive the industry forward. We have ambitious plans for CMTS 2025, which will expand to the South Building of the Toronto Congress Centre.”
